Racing Club Haïtien wins derby against Violette AC

Racing Club Haïtien secured a victory in the Port-au-Prince derby against Violette AC with a 2-1 score on Sunday at Stade Sylvio Cator. This win strengthens Racing Club Haïtien's position at the top of the championship standings.
From the beginning of the match, Racing Club Haïtien took control of the game, imposing a high tempo and creating multiple opportunities. Their dominance materialized in the 23rd minute when a powerful shot from the edge of the box opened the scoring, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Violette AC responded late in the first half and was rewarded in stoppage time. From a well-taken corner, an unstoppable header equalized the score (45+2').
After the break, both teams engaged in an intense midfield battle. Racing Club Haïtien eventually regained the lead in the 67th minute, concluding a beautiful team move.
Despite Violette AC's efforts to equalize in the final minutes, Racing Club Haïtien's well-organized defense held firm until the final whistle.
"It was a difficult match against a quality opponent. We showed character after the equalizer, and I'm proud of my players' reaction," stated Racing Club Haïtien's coach at the post-match press conference.
On the other side, Violette AC's coach regretted his team's lack of efficiency: "We had opportunities to equalize, but we weren't precise enough in the final touch. Racing deserves their victory, but we showed we can compete with them."
With this victory, Racing Club Haïtien now has a 6-point lead over Violette AC in the standings. The two teams will meet again on May 20 for another derby that already promises to be exciting.
