Origins
The roots of the Ligue Haïtienne trace back to the 1930s, when organized football began to take shape in Haiti. Early clubs like Violette AC and Racing Club Haïtien helped build a competitive structure, with matches held primarily in Port-au-Prince.
Development of the League
Officially known as the Championnat National D1, the Ligue Haïtienne grew over the decades into a nationwide competition. The Haitian Football Federation (FHF), founded in 1904, played a critical role in organizing the league and standardizing club participation across regions.
Modern Era
Today, the Ligue Haïtienne features clubs from all corners of the country. Despite challenges from political unrest and natural disasters, the league continues to serve as the heartbeat of Haitian football, producing players who compete internationally and inspiring local communities.
